Hey Gang,
I am making the journey to FL next week(AGAIN) but this time it's with my 97 Escort. The problem is it has 119k miles and the front end is feeling kind of loose. When I make left hand turns, you can hear a metallic noise - almost like a chain dragging or something. Dad said it might be the CV joins about to go but I don't know. It also has a check engine light and needs an oil change.
Do you guys know any good(aka cheap) shops in the area I could take it to? I live in the Westford area(495, rt2 and rt3) I don't want to spend a fortune since this thing is my beater but would like to keep it reliable. I don't know any Escort forums so I figured id come ask my favorite Ford NE buddies

There is no way I'd drive the car that far with that many issues ... first, go to Autozone and have the CEL code pulled (and reset if necessary). Oil changes don't take long so definitely do that as well, I assume you were going to, haha.
As for Ford dealerships in the area, I can't recommend any to you because the only ones I know are around here  although I've had fairly good luck with Millbury Ford on Rt. 20 in Auburn for mechanical work (but only in the Contour, they hated my Probe and never diagnosed things correctly).

i've been meaning to check this guy out for Sally too. i'm getting a very slight valve tapping sound, i may need my valvle springs replaced.
also, MTO, did you pull that name form the gas station food places in PA called Made-TO-Order? the food there is actually pretty good!

Well, do yourself a favor, if you ever stop at a Sheets gas station, go inside and get an Egg and Sausage Shmaggle from M-T-O.
