I have to admit when the series began I was more cheering against the Lakers than with the Pistons. But I, along with the rest of the country, came to realize the Pistons are pretty damn good and deserve a lot of respect.
I hope Malone retires without his ring and scoring title. I don't like him as a player, especially with his cheap shots and 'bows to the grills and domes. And I hate the idea of jumping to the obvious title contender to try to piggyback a championship. Being a star in your town for 20 years then going to a team owned by two particular players to be a role model, all for a ring, is pathetic.
I don't mind seeing this franchise broken up, as it would make basketball a lot more interesting.
