my dad had one of these in the '94 TT variety (black with charcoal interior
). i loved that car. pulled very nicely, and turned like it was on rails. he got rid of it about 2 years ago with only 42,000 miles. let it go for fairly cheap too. he is a perfectionist when it comes to cars, and that thing was mint! he wouldnt let me buy it, no matter how much i begged, cause he pays my insurance and didnt want to pay the rates i would have in that car. i also tried to get him to do some mild mods, but he didnt want to. that thing would have been sweet with some fairly simple upgrades
also, i loved how the controls in that car were set up. everything but the radio was right around the steering wheel so you didnt even have to take your hands off the wheel to turn on things like the HVAC. very well engineered in that respect.
my least favorite thing was how cramped that engine compartment is. way worse than the contours. you had to take the wiper cowls off just to change the battery. no extra space what so ever.
