If that is correct (which I hope it is) I have no aging fuel pump... CAUSE my hesitation is at low RPMs and it happens with any tank level not only when it is emnpty.
also... car runs absolutely normal (at least feels like) on hi-rpms.

yeah, my tour is the same way. Im curious to find out whats going on with yours so that I can try it out on conty and see what happens. Im pretty convinced that its the Fuel Injector, and that it needs to be replaced/cleaned.

My 96' ZETEC had the same symptoms. I replaced the plugs with double plat Autolites and replaced the plug wires with $18 set of Bosch. Ran great for a couple months and then started the same thing again. Two of the plugs had carbon tracks on them from arcing on the porcelain. Cleaned them up and gooped inside the plug boot with waterproofing electrolytic gel. Been running great for 7 months now.

I was going to suggest that AJ's problem was likely with plugs & wires. I had the same symptoms in my V-6 and fixed it that way.
Also helped another CEGer with an Zetec with this issue, his was plug wire related as well. His plug insulators were actually shattering because the misfire was so violent. Motorcraft or Autolite wires & Motorcraft plugs should get you guys on the road. Replace them all at the same time with new stuff.
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

Well I have new Plugs (autolite DP's) New Wires, Double Silicone high heat, new Coil. If My wires are bad, I will be pissed. How can I tell if my wires are bad?

Checked the plugs today, and I think I saw those carbon tracks. What is this gel stuff and where can I get it ?

I get this stuff at Autozone, its a waterproofing sealant and di-electric used to keep water/oil out of electrical connections and insulate them. Its a clear gel, comes in a little package about the size of a sugar packet. Usually around the parts counter. Use a small knife blade or something to scrape the track off the plug and squirt enough into the plug boot to seal around it real good when you put it back on the plug. Also keeps the boot from sticking the next time you pull it off. Hope that helps you.

Only ways I know of: 1) Check the resistance across the plug wire to see if it's in spec. Even then, if you're getting a "leak" the spark is getting used up before the plug. 2) Get hold of ONE(1) good plug wire long enough to reach all of your plugs. Replace each of your plug wires one at a time & run the car to see if the problem comes back. If you're getting busted plug insulators, you know which ones to check first...

Just to let everybody know, it turns out that the MAF sensor was dirty. I cleaned up the leads the best way that I could (clean cloth and acetone) and reinstalled. The acceleration hesitation went away, but it is still running a little rough. We are going to replace the plugs and wires soon (thay appear to be the original wires) to see if this clears up that issue. I will let you know if this helps.
