I have pulled the plugs previously and they looked like they are still in good shape, but I will probably change them anyway along with the wires since this is a cheap investment. I don't believe in the double plugs since the spark will only follow the path of least resistance for one of the leads, but it will probably extend the life of the plug as there will be (2) gaps to wear out instead of just one.



I don't mean Bosch plugs with two electrode things. I mean plugs that have platinum on both sides of where the spark goes. Technically our engines only need double platinum on two of the cylinders and single platinum on the other cylinders, but it's easier to just get all double plats.
I'm not sure what kinda scanner software is out there for OBD1, but I have a obd2 scanner (laptop connects to car) and it sure is nice to have. Maybe you can find something like it for obd1. You can compare values to what Ford says they should be.
