i just got a brake job done at Firestone. They gave me all new Cobra R brake pads, turned my rear rotors, and gave me new front rotors. This pretty little job cost me $600!!! Is this common... or what the "F"? Seemed WAY pricey to me! ANYONE......?

Sounds way high to me, but then I pretty much do my own work, so I may be out of touch with reality.

Ummmm, why would they give you Cobra R brake pads??? They use 13" or greater rotors with Dual piston calipers...and the car hasn't been made since 2000. (not to mention only ~300 of them). Doubt they would even stock such a pad.

Both front and rear, replacing one set of rotors and machining the other? Yeah, I could see $600. On my old '88 Saab 9000 Turbo, the front brakes alone (w/rotors and calipers) cost $630+. --T.J.

lets see i did the front brakes on my 96 contour and the cost was: 2 new rotors at $35 each two cans of brake spray cleaner at $3.00 each new brake pads from ford at $45(my cost) $83.00 plus tax... labor was the fun part, that cost me nothing.......... i will do the rear pads when it needs it done and it will probably cost me just as much for the rear................ so for $600. i think that is kinda high, but then i think any price is high as i do all my own work... hate to pay someone to do something that i can do myself............

i must be tire, i cant even add up prices... oh well lets see $35 times two = $70 and $6.00 is $76 and the brake pads $45 is $121 plus tax... i think i got it straight now.. and i am a math major or was back in the old days....

You believe they put Cobra R brake pads on your car? And now your asking us if 600 bones is alot for a break job? Please smack yourself for us all....
and no, taking it to someone its probably going to cost that much, you figure about $60 an hour in labor. For that much on a job as simple as a brake job, I'd find a few hours.....

Five hours? Heck no. When I did my fronts, including new stainless hoses and the BAT big brake kit, it probably took an hour, maybe two, all around to install everything and bleed the system. And that was with me not knowing what I was doing and getting instructions and help with the bleeding from Andy W. I think you got rooked.

In retrospect, it was all downhill from here. RIP, CEG.
