Originally posted by auiotour: i just drove next to my parents in their truck, and paced at 40mph, then stuck in on. stopped and did it again, set the cruise control to make sure we were at the same speeds. worked great took about 5 min. (not counting driving to a good open spot.)
I did same thing, though at 35mph (though probably should be done higher, 50-65 would probably be best but much more unsafe). It is set nearly perfect, I just didn't push the needle on good enough though, so when my bass hits, the needle moves a bit, not a big deal.
To set the tachometer needle, I just turned car on at placed at what should be the correct idle for a zetec. It seemed to work well. With my chip in, it shows redline correctly at 6750, so I think I got it pretty close to dead-on.
I left my mileage alone. I like having only 71k miles showing on my 100k+ mile contour.

Instead of taking the odometer all apart why dont you just swap the odometers from one cluster to the next? then you wouldnt have to waste time witht he dials.
