Maybe.

I figure mine has been line that since it had 49K (I have 96K now) miles on it when I bought it. Right after I first noticed the problem, I ran several tanks of Chevron through with some fuel system cleaner and it wasn't AS bad, but it was still a problem.

To give you an idea of how bad the problem was after I bought the car, I was driving at abour 60MPH and the fuel supply got so bad, I slowed down to about 20 before I got off the freeway and to a gas station.

After my aggressive "additive" regimine for the first two months or so, it would only bog down under heavy acceleration with less than a half a tank or if I was goin uphill or loaded. It was a good thing I drive alone most of the time. I really shouldn't have waited as long as I did to replace it, but there was no way in hell I was going to spend lots of $$$ to let a mechanic drop the tank to do it.

$80 for the sending unit and 3 hours of time (most spent fishing in the fuel tank for a dropped part) was well worth it.

Dirty fuel = BAD.
