Does it only happen when the gas is below a half or quarter tank? You might be another victim of the dirsty sock/screen in your fuel pump.

Oh, and BAT carries the sending unit, which is the functional part of the fuel pump assembly. $80 instead of hundreds for a new fuel pump.
