if it really is worse with half a tank of gas then i'd go the fuel route. after the pump you may want to test the spray pattern on the fuel injectors.
if not a fueling problem:
plugs and wires can cause this as well. i've "tested" wires as within specs that still cause misfires.
plugs and wires are cheap compared to going to the dealer.
