Didnt really make much difference to me,lost that annoying bogg when the secons opened, but the engine kinda bucked when driving at a steady pace at any RPM.
It felt kinda strong but couldnt tell if it help or hurt performance.
Then when I went to the store and came back out and started the SVT the CEL lit my face up.
So I undid it all but still have the lovely orange glow on the dash.
Will it clear up on its own?

It may be coincidental...

I've not heard of the IMRC module causing CEL's.

Bad IMRC module won't cause a MIL. Maybe its running lean or detecting a missfire. FSM states ecu doesn't have any checking mechanism for the MIRC.

I wonder what it could be?
It seemed to run fine with the exception of no surge of power at +-3700RPM.It bucked slightly, barely noticeable.
I took the ties off after I got home, and now the car runs just as it did before the tie back, but the CEL is still glowing.I never unpluged anything, and it didnt come on right away only after the second start up after the tie up.
Damn now I gotta Go see the dealer, that bites.Any manual way to check the CEL?(jumper wires like in the Volvos?)

Are you sure about that,I thought some had went to the dealer for a CEL and it turned out to be MIRC related?

confused

Lance is right, for vacuum actuated '95, anyway...

David Z,
that may be true for contour PCM, but in general at least there is a bunch of codes associated with IMRC.

Not on a '96+ tour. '95's you can do the jumper thing though. I say clear the codes and see if it comes back. Under hood fuses 4 and 11 IIRC...

I'll have to look it up in the FSM.

A while back I was fooling around with the IMRC and I couldn't get the PCM to show a MIL. Then I read it in the FSM that there is minimal interaction between the PCM and the IMRC box. But who knows, I'll have to check...

It could be running dangerously lean at start-up! Why you ask? Because the stock ECU fuel maps are programmed for x amount of air at idle and below RPMs when IMRC isn't actuated. However, you are now starting the car with xx (twice as much) air as it is programmed for. This will lean out the mixture quite a bit and could cause some damage if that is what the CEL is for. Get an AutoTap or ODB-II scan tool before doing anything like this again. Without these tools, guessing at what causes a CEL is about as accurate as finding a needle in a haystack.

Trevor Cole
