The SVT Focus also has dual stage intake runners.
With a little modifying and some electronic control they can be made to fit any Zetec.

I've been thinking about that......there has to be some kind of solienoid/switch controlling the intake......where is that solienoid located........

I dunno. I know where you could find out though *cough*focaljet*cough*

The only electronics you'll need is an rpm switch to control the solenoid and a custom program on a chip (not 100% necessary but will help to get the most from the dual runners).
Not sure at what rpm the SVTF changes runners,
but with some dyno time you could find the optimum rpm for your car to swap.

How many differeent cars are using the z-tec engine?
I saw it in a Ford Focus and wondered if it is the same engine?

My friend is getting a new z-tec timing chain cover and told me I could have his old one when he gets it installed....will it fit?
Is it a Ford manufactured engine?
Is the Duratec manufactured by Ford?

Hector, can you maybe fix that VCT problem by installing a pre-98 computer?? (assuming you have the key to go with it...)

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

1st off, it's NOT Z-Tec, it's Zetec.
The Zetec came in the Ford Focus (it has been replaced with a Duratec), Escort ZX2, Escape, Contour, and Ford Mondeo (European version of the Contour).
It also came in the Mercury Mystique (the Mercury branded Contour).
The Zetec came in a few different displacement sizes of 1.6L, 1.8L, and 2.0L.
Not all Zetecs are created equal, but most parts can be shared.

Use the search function to find all the info you need/want.

Yeah, but hector probably doesn't wanna start the car with a screwdriver. Though I guess you could wire the newer ignition cylinder to work with the older computer.
