Not similar to Vtec at all. VCT is only for emissions and replaces the EGR system on pre98 contours. VCT in fact can prohibit you from easily modifying your contour because you can't just slap an adjustable cam gear on the exhaust side as you can on the pre98s.

oh...ok...my bad. dont mind me thats why my little "i believe" disclaimer was there. so really the zetec has no similarities at all to Vtec...but the duratc has that nice pull above 3K when the butterflies open!

Yeah the 2.5L and 3.0L Duratec v6's have secondaries that open at 3750rpms. 'Zetec' and 'Duratec' are just the names of the engines. There is alos a 2.3L Duratec 4 cylinder.

Zetec is an engine family name,
whereas VTec is a engine technology.
So no, Zetec is nothing like VTec.
Anyway, you can swap in more aggresive cams into a Zetec and gain HP throughout the entire RPM range and not just top end.

The SVT Focus also has dual stage intake runners. With a little modifying and some electronic control they can be made to fit any Zetec.

VTEC is just a version of VVT(variable valve timing)
the only zetec that has this is the SVT Focus
but in relation to the name Zetec, like others said...just an engine name.

I've been thinking about that......there has to be some kind of solienoid/switch controlling the intake......where is that solienoid located........
