Well, just bought the new Velvet Revolver cd, and to my dismay, it's copy protected (meaning it can't be ripped) and couldn't be played in the car. All I wanted to do is copy it onto my minidisc player (Sony MZ-N1) and I couldn't even do that through the computer. I had to hook up a seperate cd player to the line-input jack on my soundcard to make an mp3 out of it.
Anyway, just wondering if anybody else has come across these yet and if so, any tips? Thanks!
Sean
P.S. I do believe it's on all the newer releases from RCA/BMG

I hate to say it, but return the damn thing. As far as I'm concerned, any CD that I can't play in my car or rip to my mp3 player is defective. In fact, I don't own any other CD players besides my car and computer, so I'd have no way of knowing it wasn't defective. Maybe if the record companies see that their crippled crap isn't wanted by consumers they'll find another way of protecting their billions in revenue.

Rant off. Sorry

FWIW I know a few people who have written to the record company with this exact complaint ("can't burn to my MP3 player") and the company has sent them a non-protected disc. No joke.

Ive never had this problem, but really why do you buy cds? I havent bought a cd since like 1999 or 2000. If you need a music downloading prog. post on here. The burning prog i use is Ahead Nero, never has given me problems.
