 Well my clutch is starting to go... I thought it was a misfire, but my brother took it for a ride and said he is extremely sure that my clutch is slipping. it isnt terribly bad, but it need to be done... Soon. So heres my problem.... I dont know how to install a clutch, Im pretty sure I dont know anybody who knows how to install a clutch, I have no idea what the process is to get to the clutch. I dont know how much they cost, or if I have to get it done professionally how much it costs to do... I dont have much money. This car is my daily driver and its been nothing but problems from the start, I have mostly everything sorted out, my mom is freaking out over my problems, im extremely depressed over the whole thing because this sets back my mods by about.... 4-5 months, if at all now. I love these contours.... but its turning into a huge money pit. Here are my questions. How much does a clutch cost (part wise)? How hard is it to install (step by step wise... how do I get to it?) What would it cost total if I took it to a shop.. and any other piece of advice/suggestions you can give me.

About $300 for a clutch alone. $1000 for a shop to do it. I'm going to imagine you can't do it yourself. The engine needs to be pulled/dropped to get the tranny out. Maybe you can get Stazi to do it. If he has time you'll save a ton.

Thats what im hoping for, in the next couple of days my mom is going to talk to some people whom she has connections with, if it doesnt work out. Im going to put out a cry for help to all CEG'ers who want to save a dying tour. Whoever shows up to help me, I will do what I can to pay or make it up to them. But right now im going to see what happens with the connections... Is it possible that I only need to buy a Clutch disc? Or do I need the whole kit from autozone?

You need to install a new slave since the tranny will be out. About $100.

You can possibly find a remanufactured clutch...maybe save 100 bux or more...

I need a big favor... Is there anybody in michigan that is willing to drive to midland, or vice versa to install a clutch in my contour. Im 16 years old, dont have a lot of money and I cant afford to take it to a mechanic. I found this on ebay Clutch kit if its confirmed that I need a clutch and my mom cant find anybody to aid in installing this clutch, is anybody at all willing to help me with this? Payment can be arranged, I may not have a lot of money, but it sure as hell will be cheaper then a mechanic.

Looks like it might be time to say bye bye Conty.
I don't know what you paid, how much you owe, or how many miles are on your car. But it may not be cost effective to fix.

So your bro is an expert on slipping clutches? I did mine over the course of one week. (longer) Stop being a [censored]! Borrow an engine hoist, buy a manual, read up, and do this biotch. It's just nuts n bolts.

it has 104K miles. Ive had it for 5 months. We paid $1750 For it. I put about 3800 Miles on it. How could I get rid of the car, I love this contour, and its impossible to find them in midland. if I have to get rid of this one, I wont get any money for it, and I have no money to begin with, only like 200$ So I would be without a car, and I have a job. So with no way to get to work which is about 5 miles away. Sounds so awesome, My first car I have for 5 months and im already thinking about getting rid of it.
