I picked up a 3/16 set-screw collar from a local hobby store.
With as much slack as I could get in the cable I cut the end off inside the car and put the collar on.
Be carefull to only cut the small brass stopper of the cable. After the collar is on and adjusted where you want the pedal put something on the cable end as a safety stop.
I used an electrical terminal lug. Just trim of the end and use the grimp part.
