Maybe simpler than you think. Pull drivers side wheel, look at side of tranny. Is it sitting on, or very close to the subframe? Bad mounts can cause this issue. Also, it may come & go, depending on how the mount resettles after jumping. Probable culprits are the transaxle mount (under airbox) & rear roll resistor (look up from bottom between firewall & tranny)

The drivetrain shifting may also account for strange steering response.

I don't if this will help, I had the same issue with my car it turned out to be the Traction Range Sensor. I was having the problem for about two months. I would disconnect the battery let the memory reset and the car would work fine for about five days then it would hit again. The part cost about $40.00 dollars. It was the best $40.00 dollars i spent in repairs.

There is a Turbine Speed Sensor, located on the pump as described above I believe and there is the Transmission Range Sensor, aka MLP (Manual Lever Position Sensor).

The MLP is what I believe he was refering to as the traction range sensor.

While they have the subframe out, check the condition of the rear roll resistor (between rear of tranny & subframe) It is very easy to replace with the subframe out and you will hate yourself if you have to do it later!

New sensor in.
She runs smooth now. But car does shift differently now.
Runs higher RPM now in 1st and 2nd before shifting up. But smooth.
