CLINTON DISAPPOINTMENT: LEFT OFF FUNERAL SPEAKERS LIST

Former President Bill Clinton has privately expressed anger he has apparently been left off the speakers list of Friday's Reagan State Funeral, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

"President Clinton really held out all hope the funeral would be a nonpartisan event, like Nixon's was," a top Clinton source said on Tuesday morning. "He's angry and disappointed neither he nor President Carter have been asked to speak, as of yet."

The top source says Clinton has been critical that both Bush presidents will address the crowd gathered at National Cathedral.

Nixon's vice president Gerald Ford did not speak at Nixon's funeral.

Clinton's inner circle is convinced Nancy Reagan has personally shut out Clinton from any high-profile participation.

"It is a state funeral, using tax dollars," the top Clinton insider explained.

Former President George H.W. Bush, former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney will join President Bush in eulogizing Ronald Reagan, Reagan's office announced. Presiding over the service will be former Sen. John Danforth of Missouri, who is an ordained Episcopal priest. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor and the Rabbi Harold Kusher will give readings, while Irish tenor Ronan Tynan will sing.

The eulogy is being prepared by President Bush's chief speechwriter, Michael Gerson, who also wrote the president's moving speech for a memorial service in the same cathedral after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

What a terrible thing to do, I guess Bush is going to play poltics and try and improve his VERY low approval rating.

November can't get here soon enough.

An even better question is how come I haven't been asked to speak at Reagan's funeral. Oh yeah, I'm an idiot.

Perhaps a greater insult to this country than a President getting head in the Oval Office from a 19 year-old intern would be a President who got head in the Oval Office from a 19 year-old intern speaking at one of our greatest Presidents' funerals.

Clinton's narcissism never ceases to amaze me.

I suppose Carter should speak, because the destruction he facilitated to this country gave Reagan something to show his greatness through.

Sr. server under Regan for 8 years and was one of his closest advisors. W is the current president. Where does Clinton feel he has any right to do anything with it.

I can't even BELEIVE I am gracing this with a response.

First Clinton receiving head in the oval office, was wrong YES. Clinton however was one of our greatest leaders, this entire county saw prospertiy. We were paying down the debt etc.

Bush however well don't get me started on him.

Lastly, while Carter may have been an idiot he was an idiot who cared and wanted to do good.

They all have a right to speak, do you think its really fair for the Bush's to poltizise this. I sure as hell don't I bet Reagan would be ashamed.

I guess there is a connection between Clinton and Reagan -- Clinton has taken responsibility for the economic boom of the 90s that really was the result of Reaganomics. If it was possible, it would be Reagan speaking at Clinton's funeral.

Other than the reasons I mentioned, Carter and Clinton are completely irrelevant to Reagan's legacy. Therefore, they have no reason to speak at his funeral.

The internet Boom made Clinton. Not the other way around.

If we'd all be stupid not to think that Nancy didn't have a big part in selecting who is going to speak at her husbands funeral.

Possible one of our strongest first ladies!

The FIRST past President who could POSSIBLY feel slighted would be Carter. Besides, how is Clinton getting denied some right wing conspiracy since Ford isn't speaking either? Better yet, how is this on Bush?

Is your hero worship of Clinton because you're so young he is the only President you remember?

Talk about a wild conspiracy theory...

EDIT: and you need to bone up on your Presidential history by delving deeper than what is in pop culture, Carter is hardly an idiot
