I hope the ESP you're referring to is from the factory, because I know most extended warranties don't cover damage due to overheating. They might pick up the cost of the water pump, but that's nothing compared to the cost of the damage that might be done to your motor.

In retrospect, it was all downhill from here. RIP, CEG.

Nothin personal dude. Water pump failure is pretty common on all cars. Have you ever changed the coolant? Rancid collant can each most of your cooling system to bits.

The problem with America is stupidity.
I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment
for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety
labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

No, just on Contours it seems.
Before it was involved in an accident and then she sold it, my Mom had 146,000 on her 90 Chevy Corsica, the water pump failed at 142,000.
My uncle had 112,000 on his 1991 pick-up when he sold it, still had the original water pump.
So you see water pumps from eariler model years last longer than on newer Contours. Doesnt make sense does it, you think it would have gotten better over the years.
Mine hasnt failed yet only at 63k, but hoepfully it doesnt fail cause I cant afford a repair bill.

Listen dick!
My father owns a shop and when I talk to him one of the most common repairs is a water pump, I spent summers there and am regularly there. Our's take 15 min to replace. Other you have to pull the entire time belt/chain cover. And if you don't to any maintenance on the system I'd expect it to fail over 7 years.

I have a coolant flush done when the time comes. I was saying water pumps last a long time on most cars, and that the failure isnt that common. Sure it happens, but I doubt that is the most common repair, maybe at his shop.
Secondly on your car if you do a half ass job 15 minutes sounds about right.
I have a Zetec so it different about 3 hours.

If it takes you longer than 15 minutes it means you're retarded.
