I need some advice here. I would like to get more performance and sound out of my exhaust but I'm not interested in the duals.
Can you guys suggest any single exhaust systems?
I've got a kkm but am stock otherwise. Also from what I've been able to gather from the discussions here it may not make much sense to remove the resonator. Any truth to that if I upgrade the muffler?
TIA!

Best bang for the buck by far, especially if you don't care about going to dual outlets is to just go to a muffler shop and have them replace your stock muffler and resonator with high flow units. As far as the res goes, have them replace it with a glasspack, or the drone will drive you mad.
While you may not get the absolute peak hp gains you would with an entirely new system using larger tubing - you will get a nice boost in overall power at a great price. IIRC, some of the cougar folks run something like this and report very nice torque gains.

Ugh there is no drone guys! I have had this setup for over a month and there is no drone on non-SVTs. The SVT is known for bad drone. It is a good idea to have them simply weld in a straight pipe. Email me and I'll send some sound clips. The performance gains are minimal if any, but the new sound is great! Draws lots of looks!

I replaced the Stock Ford OEM muffler with a Dynomax and removed the resonator while they were at it. No DRONE!. Nice increase in power.

For now, on my '99 SE, I replaced the resonator with a straight pipe (not a glasspack) and the stock Ford muffler with a Ravin'. I do not have the drone problem many have complained about. The only negative being that until the system heats up, I do hear a "4 cylinder, high pitched" whine at 3000 rpm and 4500 rpm. Again, when the engine is cool, at full throttle this sound occurs all the way to redline. But, fortunately, this obnoxious noise disappears completely when the engine and exhaust are at operating temperature.
Eventually I'll add a second Ravin' with a custom cat-back system. I'm pleased with the sound and can detect (seat of the pants!!) an increase in hp and torque.
FYI>>>>>>>I have a K&N drop-in air filter and experimented with removing the air box completely, and with leaving the entire air delivery system intact. While at high rpm's I cannot notice any major power difference, at low rpm's I can feel (again, seat of the pants!!!!!!) a power increase by leaving the stock air box unit connected. Without the airbox, the filter apparently sucks in too much warm air from the engine, decreasing power. Now, I'll have to experiment using additional ducting to the airbox to see if there is any additional power to be gained.

Nathan I hope you don't mean that you were driving around w/o a filter on--- that would be bad
