Hey thanks Rio for that info. Have you had a chance to get a dyno run/g-tech/1/4 mile times that show that the Flywheel really made a difference or it just feels stronger, like to know what I'm getting myself into to.

What's this Fananzia (faniza) flywheel? (even listed in your mods???) And it's only 8lbs? Bullsh!t... Never heard of that...

We're are talking about Fidanza's 11.5lb unit.

The guy who's working on my dead Zetec told me today that the stock flywheel is stamped sheet metal! Aluminum has got to be better than that.

I keep hearing these vague references to problems with aluminum flywheels. Pretty much every racer I know will run an aluminum flywheel, regardless of the cost, if the class rules allow it and one is available for the vehicle. I have never heard of a problem with an aluminim flywheel, other than burning of the friction surface caused by poor clutch usage.

Has anyone here ever had a problem with an aluminum flywheel?

FYI... I'm not being sarcastic, just curious.

I don't know if this counts but,
I had the SHO Shop 8 pound unit on my sho,I know It's not a tour smile
Anyways, I never had a problem with durability. It did have a steel insert and starter ring. The engine did have a bit of a rough idle though. The clutch I used was the Hi Revs race duel diaphragm kevlar clutch, AKA lots of clutch chatter, hard launches and tire spin. I know that when I do the clutch on the svt I will go to a aluminum unit and a clutch with more manners for sure smile

Good luck on your decision.

Pardon me, I was not realizing the difference between a MTX flywheel and an ATX "flex plate". Still, it does seem kind of cheezy to have hollow gear teeth.
