Did you use a machine or buff by hand? Maybe some of those alleged swirls would come out if you used an orbital polishing machine.
i have a cheap viewsonic too!!

Do you guys have a good link to an "idiots intro to using your buffer"? I got a carftsman from my wife a while back and it came with like 3 pads - a wool deal, a terrycloth looking one and then a thin one that was just for applying the wax IIRC. I only have the wool thing left, and it sounds like it isn't the reccomeded one to use. Any site that lists what I should buy and how to use it would be great!
thanks

Here's info on the PC machine I've been talking about. Just look at some of the before/after pictures at the bottom to see why I want it For my Craftsman, I've been happy using plain ole foam pads, and only use the machine to apply polishes. Like I said, I found em at Big Lots for $1.50 each. The wax and sealant I use are easy enough to apply by hand that a machine really isn't necessary. Taking them off is a breeze as well.

Some more convincing.. couldn't get to the link on Sunday. Shows what kind of results that DACP can give too.
It's a Lexus, not a Ford, single stage paint, not clearcoated, but.... the machine and proper products can yield amazing results.

Perry, Hey I got to looking, I ordered my PC from Griots right, well I did some research and such and found out why mine was 199.95 instead of 119.00. Griots actually sells the 97366 Kit with a lifetime warranty, found here! The 97366 kit comes with the 7336 random orbital sander. I was in awe for a second. I thought I got jipped. Then I read this article. So I am happy still. I like that it came with the case and the dust collection kit Even though I doubt I will use it for sanding lol, I have a nice Dewalt sander. I think I might buy a 5" pad counterweight. PC sells the 7424, a 6" polisher with the 5" pad counterweight. Mine came with the 6" pad counterweight. When I switch over, if I ever have to sand I would just have to switch back to the 6" pad counterweight.

Also, can you get Meguiars 83 and 82 at any type of retail store or do you have to order it online? Thanks.

Yea, that article shows the difference between the two. Other than the accessories and counterweight, they are the exact same thing. Lowes sells 7336 for $109.. It seems like the 7424 at CoastalTool seems like the best deal at $119. Includes the regular 7242 package, plus 6" Hook & Loop Contour Pad #18002 and 6" Counterweight. The case is nice, seems to sell for about $32 by itself.
I don't see the warranty mentioned on Griot's page..

It seems like the 6" counterweight helps reduce the vibrations of the buffer, especially at higher speeds like 5 and 6 (don't see people talking about going higher). When I get one, I think I'll stick with the larger counterweight.
Some people prefer to use a little larger pads than the backing plate (another item to worry about )to lessen the chance of the backing plate hitting the car.
Good info. Backing plate / pad discussion Another good link

Probably not at the usual suspects - Pep Boys and such. You may want to look around for auto body supply stores and see if they carry Meguiar's products. If so, they can probalby order them for you.
You can also check to see if there is a dealer near you - http://www.meguiars.com/DealerLocator/DealerLocator_template.cfm
Before jumping on DACP and SFP, I encourage you to also check out Poorboy's products.. They have a new SSR (super swirl remover) coming out in a couple days -- SSR2.5 -- that is supposed to be similar to DACP, but easier to use. Poorboy's discussions and webpage.
Depending on the condition of your paint, you may not need something as abrasive as DACP.. Check out #80, Speed Glaze, as an alternative to #82. #80 followed by NXT is supposed to produce nice results (I think you mentioned using NXT someplace). Review / discussion of #80 and some comparisions w/ #82.
So many products...

I called Griots today and confirmed this. So if you get the 7336 from Coastal for 119 and the case for 32 (I gotta have a case. There has to be a place for everything and everthing in its place ) You are looking at 151. So 50 extra gets you the same thing from griots PLUS the lifetime warranty. Guess I didnt do to bad
