If I was you to remove these swirl marks I would use a soft orbital buffer found at Wal-Mart instead of those big heavy industrial like De Walt or Makita brand. Those will cause heavy swirl marks if not use properly. Believe me, the Wal Mart Type will leave amazing results. If very heavy scratches are found on the clear coat but not able to remove with anything. Try wet sanding the area with 1500 grade sandpaper. Use lots of water when doing this! Then wax that area with the buffer.

There's two types (well, three) of buffers out there.. The "consumer grade" ones like I have and you can find all over the place. Then machines like the Porter Cable 7424 that are still random orbital but have much heftier motors, adjustable speed, neat backing plate system, etc. With my Craftsman model, just placing it on the car bogs down the motor.. The PC machine was actually initially marketed as a sander, but by changing backing plates, it becomes a good tool to use on a car. PC has picked up on the fact that car detailers us it and has started marketing it towards them. With either of these, you gotta try really hard to damage your paint. This is the bad boy I want.

Then there are rotary buffers that just spin in a circle. You can burn through the paint very quickly with a rotary tool, leave buffer holograms, etc. Gotta be skilled to use one, and I wouldn't tream of trying one on my car, at least, not without practicing on a few junkyard panels first.
