No, after you remove the belt from the car and put it back on you have to tighten the tensioner, just like you have to loosen it to get the belt off.

no, you loosen the belt by pulling on the spring loaded tensioner. after you remove the belt, it goes back to its original position. when putting the belt back on, you pull it aside again, put the belt back on, the it resets itself because its spring loaded. there is no tighening or loosening the belt tensioner to adjust belt tension. it does it automatically.

have you even seen what he is talking about?

Thanks for all the ino about the belt, but I was talking about the pully on the A/C compressor. Anyway the belt from the non air version worked fine, and I am at least driving the car, but it has been VERY hot here lately.
I decided to fix the A/C by getting a used lower mileage compressor from a 2000 car, mine is 1995. Picked one up for $60. I will swap it out, add some oil, and pull a vaccum on it for a while before recharging. I've done this before with great success on other cars. I'll keep you posted on my success, but it will probably be a few weeks to I can get to doing it.

I'd recommend replacing the orfice valve. It is only four bucks from autozone.
