I think everyone should live by the saying "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all"

What is the point in that?

It's called having class. Being contrary at the wrong time can get you in trouble, hurt peoples feelings, or lead to really bad situations in general. Conversely, you aren't true to yourself if you just go along, but don't really agree. So, say nothing, & remain neutral. Nobody gets P.O.'d, and you look like a diplomat. My description here doesn't properly express the profound nature & depth of that saying. It's getting late and I'm tired, my words are failing me, I am sorry for the weak effort.

I taught my children, "B-chin' is easy, any brainless tool can do that. Doing stuff - That takes character.".

This is not the thread for posting hate crap. The guy is no longer with us, many loved him, let them remember him in the best light.

So have no opinion? Don't rock the boat? Don't say anything because that might not jive with ever CEG'er?

Nope. Just sayin' this is not the place to be bashing.

Good. Now think, was it appropriate for this thread?

Yes. If the sh!t fits, eat it.

Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

This is perhaps the most viscious, seething, loathing, partison statement I have seen laid at the feet of a dead American president.

I will not ask you to support your statment because you cannot, and further such remarks seem just intolerable at this sad time.

"OUR" President Regan is in a better place and so are we all because of him...

Not the greatest President? Agreed, but in his second election he recieved the largest majority ever for the office of President!

He's as responsible for the "Me" Crisis as Clinton is for the tech boom.

Rest in Peace, Mr. Regan.

Andy W. The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

Yep... the 80's are officially over.

Sad to hear the news as well, but he wasn't doing so hot for a while anyways. At least now he can rest.

reaganomics...the rich got richer and the poor got poorer...he may have done things which some think were great, but he is also the man who wanted to make ketchup a vegetable in school lunches...he cut out after-school programs that helped keep kids off the streets...helping to create idle minds and hands...it was on his watch that drugs became so rampant in inner cities as well as the explosion of gangs

his speeches were old movie lines and cliches...it is possible that when he said 'i dont remember' during the iran-contra hearings, he really didn't remember due to alzheimers

he was the tommy lasorda of presidency...not an x's and o's guy, but really good at the gung ho, rah rah stuff...i do give him credit for giving the country a shot of what it needed after vietnam, and the failure to rescue the hostages that nite in iran; pride in our country...

his interest in the military is probably what put us back on the map so to speak

i have my opinions on him, some good, quite a few not so good...however, death is something that touches all of us and to see nancy laying her head on his coffin the other day and saying 'i just dont believe it' absolutely brought tears to my eyes...its hurts to lose loved ones to death.

eventhough i have my opinions i do have respect for the man and his family..i was ~12-13 yrs old when he was shot...i remember think so what...but when watching the coverage later that nite over and over i became very afraid for4 him and for our country...i realized then that i could not hate him eventhough i tried...it was later that i learned and understood that u should respect the leaders of your country or land whether u agree with them or not...somewhere, that is even written in the bible, though i could not tell you exactly where

r.i.p mr reagan

When Regan took office, unemployment was > 10%, inflation was rampant (double digit), and the top tax bracket was 70%!! Regan reversed all that and the misery index (created during Carters tenure) dropped, personal weath increased across the board...how is this poor got poorer??

Big deficit created (even bigger than the present deficit as % of GDP)..sure. He built 19 army divisions, gave raises to the military (I was not rich in the Navy in the early 80s but got richer under Regan), and won the cold war. Which ultimately, made it easier to reduce debt under Clinton by dramatically cutting military size & spending (too much).

Reganomics WORKED!

Death is such a sad thing. Nancy Reagan looks so sad and lost. She had been watching the alzheimers slowly take his life but there is no way to prepare for death. It is good that she has her children there to help her.

I have utmost respect for Nancy Reagan. She devotedly cares for her husband for 10 years, and then suffers his death.

Through all this, she has shown strength and dignity. (Diva gene on) For 82, even without all this, she looks great. (Diva gene off)

Then despite all this, she's coming out swinging for stem cell research. Agree or not (debate for another thread, please) she's keeping purpose and drive in her life.
