This is a question for anyone that has seen the movie

(1) Guy escapes from prison and is supposedly after Harry
(2) Professor knows the guy that escapes from prison and also knows that Harry Potter belives that he is going to kill him
(3) Professor, Prisoner and Harry don't know the rat is still alive

WHY ON EARTH IS THE PRISONER AFTER HARRY or let me reword that...WHY IS HE COMING TO THE SCHOOL IF HE BELIEVES THAT THE RAD IS DEAD??? what could he possibly accomplish?

And why did the teacher get mad at harry for having the map if he knew the prisoner wasnt out to get him.

Doesn't really make sense to me. I mean ok so they found out the rat was still alive, that is understandable to come to the school..but he was on his way B4.

Am i missing something?

Here's a hint: Read the book. It makes much more sense.

I was gonna say the same thing...the book is a bit different and goes more in depth on a lot of things.

Yes. The movie didn't nearly touch upon the issues as I had hoped it would. It was entertaining to see it acted out finally, but disappointing to note its lack of answering questions or incorporating minute details that would have made the entirety so much more sense.

In the story, the general public believed Sirius was after Harry because he kept repeating "He's at Hogwarts" in his sleep while at Azkaban, and he was believed to be a Voldemort supporter. This was partly explained in the beginning of the movie between Mr. Weasley and Harry's conversation in Diagon Alley, that Harry was the only thing in the way of Voldemort's return presently. (In reality Sirius was referring to Wormtail who indeed was at Hogwarts, and Wormtail framed him in the mass murder Sirius 'committed', hence plot twists abound.) He knew the rat was alive because Ron and his family won a bunch of money and were pictured on the front page of the Daily Prophet (the wizarding newspaper) complete with rat on Ron's shoulder. The rat is missing a toe, hence the "Sirius decimated him, all they found was a finger" because Wormtail cut it off. Sirius noticed the rat missing a toe in the picture and from then on knew it was Wormtail.

Make sense? If not, read the book. J.K. Rowling describes the plot twists much better in 500 pages than I could ever do in 1/2 of one.

All in all, I enjoyed the movie for what it was. I was disappointed in the lack of detail given to the plots at stake, and the random changes in scenery (since when were there bridges going over valleys, did Hagrid suddenly build a second room to his hut, and when was the Whomping Willow moved from a huge field by the forest over to the cliff's edge?, etc....), clearly influenced from the new producer(s). The movie had a sudden shift from indoors theme to outdoors as well. I had a very strong "The Secret Garden" feeling when watching the new scenery and hearing the shift in soundtrack style. Had it been that way in the first two movies it would have been fine but with this being a third following the other two it didn't maintain the flow as well as it could have. Otherwise, if you read the book, it was a good movie giving images to what you know already.

Ok so according to the book Sirius knows that the rat dude is alive?? cause in the movie the professor said both of them thought he was dead which made me question why the hell was he coming to hogwarts?

They work it around in the movie when Harry spotted Wormtail on the Marauder's Map and told Lupin (who we are to infer told Sirius Black, I think, which in itself is a plot hole because Black was coming to Hogwarts before the Marauder's Map was even given to Harry). The movie has some major changes to the plot .... seriously, read the book if you have questions.

The reviews stated that they had gotten away from the book moreso than in the first two movies..and go back and check book 2 and movie 2..they mention moving the whomping willow.

(% I liked it.

Read the book(s)! Then it will all make sense, because they skimped on a lot of important details. Like the fact that the people who created the map were Lupin, James Potter, Peter Petigrew, and Sirius Black because they were all young friends at Hogwarts and all became animagus to help control Lupin's warewolf at the shrieking shack.

The new Dumbledore wasn't very good either

I agree. Had no personality. And I didn't like the new setting either...it wasn't the same Hogwarts.
