Are you sure. I know have seen a few in auto trader. Maybe they were typos....

Okay I found this... The Spyder comes in GS trim, with a 2.4-liter, 141-horsepower engine, or as a GS-T model with the same turbo powerplant as the coupe.

the turbo is/was a 4G63 2.0 dohc I4. The 2.4 was used in the N/A versions. It's a ChryCo engine.

The posts in AutoTrader might be trying to take advantage of people who don't know better. Look up Eclipse Spyders on www.edmunds.com or other info sites.

The N/A 2.4 is NOT a ChryCo engine. It is a SOHC Mitsubishi motor found in the Mightymax pickups as well as the newer cheaper eclipses.

Eclipse Spyders never had AWD
Eclipses never had controllable AWD

You're right, I checked right after I posted that. I was thinking of the Neon SOHC/DOHC differences, among other things I guess...

Your thinking of the non turbo 2.0, its a chrysler 420a. The 2.4 is a Mitsubihi engine, its a 4G64. Its kinda like the 4g63 but single cam & bigger.

I smell a big steaming pile of BS!
Only AWD is the GSX, GS-T is FWD, and to make a Spyder AWD, you need to do extensive under body work as the rear of the chassis is different due to stiffening steps taken by Mitsubishi.
Stop telling lies.
And even if you did have AWD there is NO WAY, apart from having some sort of WRC calibre (we're talkin g 6 figures here!)electronic differential setup that would allow you to change the power transfer from front to back etc.
This guy has been smoking some rather large reefers in between pulling his pud!
