Thanks for the encouragement. I've got a weight set at the house. I don't even need to pay for a membership or convince myself it's worth the drive to a gym to work out. I'm just doing basic workouts with cardio on my off days. That and I eat really well. I'm 5'11" and I weigh 175. I used to be a hefty dude at 215 (no muscle), so it's either exercise or go back to being fat.

I kinda went the other way. I'm 6' and used to weigh 160, now I'm about 225. Just keep your eye on your goal!

I'm not even sure what my goal should be. I don't want to bulk. I'm guessing around 180 with a low bodyfat percentage is what I should shoot for.
This guy gives a good bit of motivation. I kinda want to do what he's doing, but I don't want to be quite as cut as him.

Not to rain on your parade, but I think some people have a misconception of how easy gains come with bodybuilding. Ive heard people say, "Well, I wanna be big, but I dont wanna get TOO big." Trust me, things dont happen like that overnight! You wont even get TOO big in 5 years. Even with the help of steroids and other growth hormones it takes a LONG time to get to that kind of status. These huge bodybuilders that you see, aren't just huge because they workout like its their job and take steroids, its because they are genetically gifted. Im not trying to say its not possible for you to look like that guy in the picture, because the good news is that you can! I'm just saying, its takes an extreme amount of dedication in the gym, strict diet (yes, that means no beer! ), plenty of rest, etc. Good luck!

I agree with you. I'm saying I don't want to be as small as him. He's fit and in shape, but he looks rail-thin. He got that way from 215 lbs in fifteen months. Dedication. I've cut way back on beer, too.

Just got back to the Gym 3 weeks ago after 3 months or so off. I had worked out for a while before that, so it has been very easy for me to get back into form. I am 5'7 1/2" and ~167 lbs, not looking to get big, just defined and staying healthy. The supplements that I am taking now are Optimum Nutrition whey-protein 1/day and EAS Phosphagen HP (Creatine with Carbs). For some GREAT articles and information on NATURAL bodybuilding take a look at www.abcbodybuilding.com . They have some awesome workouts, great monthly magazines and a VERY useful forum. They research the science behing bodybuilding all the way down to the cellular level.

Try studied for 1 year and became a personal trainer, and work hard (5 times a week). Education, not chemicals. Kind of like some people should be educated before they comment.
