1200 bill are you insane.

yeah, for under 1200 you could have just eliminated the prccats with some headers instead. you will still have the main cat that is located after the y-pipe.

When I had the code 420, I had done the uim/lim cleaning etc. a few months earlier. The code might come back. My cel would reappear usually within 400 miles of me resetting it. Hopefully you have under 80,000 miles. Take it to the dealer and have the pre-cats changed for free.

Its not the 420 code. Its a catylic converter specific code (forgot exactly which, ill know by tomorrow). As for the 80,000... no dice, im closing in on 87,000 miles. I already did the uim/lim cleaning, all o2 sensors have been replaced, new plugs, new wires. Does anybody think that good gas will help any? I run whatever is the cheapest in the area (usually citgo 87 octane).

I sprayed B12 directly into the intake manifold with the engine running. It appears to have fixed the problem.

I should have stated the whole code P0420. This and the P0430 are the correct codes for failing pre-cats. I was responding to the original poster of this thread, since me didn't state what mileage or year of car he had, I just wanted to relay the info on getting the car fixed for free.
