That's exactly it. People drive those things like they're just another car, & they're not. They are TRUCKS. You can't go flying down the freeway at 70 or 80 mph & be as safe as you would in a car. They oughta speed govern those things at 60 mph for all the stupid people.
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

i have never ONCE in my 10 years of driving a vehicle with a huge center of gravity (1985 Bonco 2 with 6" of lift) even come close to getting the thing up on 2 wheels let alone even feel like it is gonna roll. some people need to learn what vehicle control is, i am sure that she saw the thing in the road way ahead of time and could have slowed down. she was probably traveling at well over the speed limit, come on lady you have to know the characteristics of the vehicle you are driving. i hope she uses all her money to buy some common sense.

People need to realize that you can't drive every car the same. When I drive my Explorer, I always stay at the speed limit and take ramps and curves at the posted caution speeds. You can only swerve with them at lower speeds (50kph or less) and even then in a very controlled maner. Aslo have to start breaking for turns much sooner than in a car.
In the Mystique I'll speed and swerve out of the way of things, do quick lane changes, but never in the Explorer.
If I roll the Explorer It's my own damn fault, unless it was caused by a defective component, then and only then would it be Ford's fault, unless it was a maintenance item that was missed and then again...owners fault.
The Explorer is meant for hauling [censored], towing trailers, and light duty off-roading so people need to drive it acordingly. If they can't do that they need to buy a car.

Read the quote from her own lawyer: Quote:
"This is an important message because there are a lot of people out there that are driving these vehicles that don't have, like Mrs. Wilson, any clue of what could happen," Schoville said. "It's going to continue until Ford Motor Co. is required to do something."
Derrrrr.... "I know my client was driving irresponsibly but Ford didn't tell her that could kill her."
Looks like she didn't venture too far from her gene pool to find her lawyer.

"This is an important message because there are a lot of people out there that are driving these vehicles that don't have, like Mrs. Wilson, any clue of what could happen," Schoville said. Yeah, no clue what can happen when you go flying down the road and try to get away with the same manouvers in an SUV that you can do in a car! ESPECIALLY no clue of what can happen if you are an average or marginal driver in the first place, who has no concept of vehicle dynamics and the basic laws of physics... They REALLY need to do a better job in driver's ed. You need to watch further ahead when your vehicle is not as nimble as a sports car, so you can avoid problems sooner and not push the edge of your vehicle's handling envelope.
Granted, I'm no fan of Ford's lame front suspension design on the Rangers and early Explorers, due to the wacked camber changes that occur through the suspension travel, which causes bad tire wear and other problems. But that design is not the reason why people roll these things. It probably doesn't help matters, but they've used that same basic design on Rangers, Bronco IIs and F-Series trucks (yes, the F-Series is wider) for years. Heck, my dad's Ranger doesn't even have a front sway bar! You wanna see body roll?! At least they've finally come to their senses and gone to a SLA-type design, which probably does have a lower roll-center, and therefore, better handling. So yes, Ford should have designed it better in the first place, but even as it was, it DID pass all the tests to be approved for sale by the Federal government. If there's a problem, maybe we need to change the tests.
Oh, and these are the SAME damn people that whine and complain that things cost so much! "My prescription drugs are too expensive! WAAAAAHH!" Yeah, it's because dumbasses like YOU SUE THE COMPANIES for ANYTHING -- even your own damn STUPIDITY!!!
