A heavily debated mod in CEG days past involved creating a small blocking plate that would sandwich in with the EGR gasket where it bolts to the UIM.

Blocking it off completely will cause a CEL, but reducing the passage to about a 1/4" hole seemed to provide a slight increase in throttle response for some who tried it. I tried it, liked it, and kept it.

This is a freebie if your handy with a pair of tin snips and a drill. all you need is a small piece of sheet metal. Use the EGR gasket as a template, just make the center hole smaller.
