I need new struts but I don't want to get new springs. I really do not want the car any lower than it is and I doubt the springs have gone bad. Basically I want the same ride height with a stiffer ride. I am sure I want non - adjustable. I was thinking of KYB GR-2 struts. Any ideas everyone? Thanks!!! 98svt.contour,77k,black,only owner, all stock(4 now)

Get the Bat Euro Struts or if you want to spend more money, the Bilsteins. They have gotten some good press here.

i'm sure brand new ones would feel a little firmer than ones with 77K miles on them. But I agree with what was said above, Bilsteins (although people seem to experience some type of ride height increase with them) or BAT

Should be clarified that the KYBs will NOT give you a stiffer ride.
Now I just wish that KYB made their AGX adjustables for the Contour.....

I bet there's not much life left in the springs on your 98. You'll probably find they're rusted and close to breaking as most SVT's that old that I have seen have at least one snapped spring.
If you don't want a lot of drop I would suggest the BAT springs, but seeing as I DO like a little drop H&R's are #1 for me when it comes to conventional springs for these cars.
Either way I would not suggest you reuse the old springs, AND the GR-2's are junk and not meant for uprated springs, they'll blow out in no time. They did on my buddies car!

Prior to my Koni/Eibach setup I noticed that stock struts/springs were more firm than Koni's set to full soft.
Back to back runs in my setup vs. a stock SVT proved this.
