My guess on the chip is that it only really increases bottom end power by adjusting different signatures of the car. By adjust timing at the bottom end some more TQ can be tricked out of the car. My guess on HP drop is dealing with timing on the top end and restrictions. My car can rev atleast to 7200 ( Don't do it even with 100 octane) and it kinda makes you go uhh I don't like those weird sounds. I experiment with 3rd gear at the track. Well, I think that the cat being free'd up/removed alows for the biggest bottle neck of the tour to be removed, allowing for bigger gains. All dyno's I have seen with the chip&Y are great togeather. As for just chip dyno's??? It just depends how it's burned. Warren at Kurtz Kustomz burned mine and said I would feel a gain in tq. Some have hp gains but with pinging.
