Honestly, the Ford dealer had the best deal on springs that I could find. $66 bucks each for the rears on my SVT. CTA or BAT might be able to get them too.

Well, As it turns out, front springs are covered as part of a Recall. They said they are covered for 1998 and 1999 vehicles up to 150,000 miles....so I am all set! YAY!

I will just get them to put new strut bearings in while they are taking them apart! Saves me having to do it!

The only downside is that they take 10 days to get here, as they have to be brought in from the US.

Oh well........

Hello All again,

This is a FYI for everyone that Strut Bearing from the Ford dealer are aprox. $25 bux. So hopefully no-one will be "had" by the other auto-parts store that want $50-100.

I've always had the misconception that Dealers ALWAYS cost more than auto-parts stores, and for the most part its true, but this is twice now it hasn't. I had a Pathfinder, that i needed an O2 sensor for...UAP or Car-Quest, even Crappy Tire wanted like $200-800(yes, $800!! I told the Parts guy, for $800 There better be an engine screwed into that O2 sensor for me to pay $800). Went to the Nissan Dealer, $87 + Tax.

They also said that since they will have the strut assembly apart anyways, i won't be charged labour. So thats a bonus.

Anyways...8 days and counting, Till then..I shall be driving my Mom's Taurus.

This is true, but only if the part is available through other sources.
If it's a part you can only get from the dealer look out!
i.e. DPFE - $140, EGR Soilenoid vavle - $40
if you look at the DPFE there's not much to it.
Looks like the same amount of plastic and electrical parts in both pieces.
$16/spark plug for the V6

Glad your getting off easy for your repairs.
Oh and about Sparta, don't worry if your car is stock
you will still run close times as us and it's fun!

I don't know apparently my Zetec puts down a respectable time.

**CORRECTION**

Apparently, the recall is for "selected" Contours with manufacture dates of Sept 9th,1996 to April 18th, 1998. The 150,000 miles still stands though
