Excellent clarification. I don't think in this case, it would affect SilverSVT because his overall wheel/tire weight went down 3 lbs, probably negating the extra inirtia.

More simple physics:
Fatter tires also mean more aero drag. You are correct.
Whether it's significant in your case, I can't make any judgment.

Let's get back to basics.
The FIRST thing to to is to go measure the ACTUAL diameter of the 18" Tire/Rim combo.
Don't trust that all XXX/XXRXXX tires are supposed to be such and such diameter.
Compare the current diameter with what the diameter of the stock rim/tire combo is supposed to be.
THEN look for problems somewhere else.

How about simple tune up. It is a '98 and he doesn't list how many miles. He could have a clogged cat. If i remember correctly the '98 are in the group that coudl have that problem. His maybe slight and only effect the upper HP ratings. Plugs with the right gap and wirse may make a difference. What other mods do you have.

I was thinking about this, and if the 18" wheel tire combination is lower in wieght, how can the moment of inertia be higher if the diameter is the same or less?
The Rev is right, just because the wheel is 18" doesn't mean has a greater circumference when combined with the tire.
One more thought on this. If the wheel is lighter, and the wheel/tire combination is lighter, and the circumference is the same or less, then how is the moment of inertia greater?
I haven't taken a physics course since 1983, so I'm a bit rusty at this.

Not nit-picking or anything, but Jeff also has a asp pulley. That supposedly yields a few hp.
BTW, my car has 50k miles, and my plugs are original. Remember the irregular exhaust rumble at idle? That V8 with lumpy cams sound probably has something to do with a few shot plugs...
I'll order plug wires from BAT very soon. Tell me if you'd like to split the brokerage fee.

Mangler: I'll take you up on that offer. What wires do you have in mind? The plugs I'll just get at Crappy Tire. Oh, Jeff's car has a few good mods to it, but I also lost to Alex's MTX SE. He's only got the SVT exhaust on that, with the resonator in place, as well as the stock air box.
All you guys claim that even a modded SE shouldn't pass an SVT, well how 'bout a near stock SE?!?
Others: Agreed I didn't post a lot of info on my ride, so here it is: It's got 62,500 miles (100,000km). The cat converter is original. The O2 sensor has been changed. Exhaust is stock but the res has been removed. I have an open element air filter but no heat sheild (yet!). The plugs & wires are original, and neither the TB nor the upper manifold have ever been cleaned.
I have an extended warranty on this thing, would they change my cat converter if it was plugged? Is there any way I can tell short of replacing the thing?
Thanks for all the help, keep it coming!

Nope, I know what an SE v6-ATX will do. Just ask the folks who were at SZ-2000 in Springfield, IL. While the SVT's could out run me at the top end. They were not running away during the fun run with my chipped and K&N'ed 99 SE. They could slowly pull out on me, but it wasn't embarrasing for me driving the ATX equipped car But I now have the SVT TB

I am not sure how that is figured but my rims atleast from what the guy at the rim shop said my ADR Design Reactions 18 X 7.5 weighed about 19 to 21 lbs. without tire. And I would have thought that a 215/40ZR18 tire would have weighed another 20 plus pounds but what do I know.

ATX on an tuocross is usually ideal for us lowly FWD cars. The gearing is taller so you can usually just lock it in first gear and never have to worry about when if you should take the extra downshift on a tight corner. [qb But I now have the SVT [/QB] ...but this is a lot more fun doing it!
