They are right Roger. You were told that at SZ. You really need to use the same dyno to see whats up.

IMHO, the only way to back up a dyno number is take it to the track.

I agree that is a good, direct indication of how the car & driver perform together as a total package verses a static engine number generated by a dyno.

However again you can only compare it against other cars at the track the same night as you.

Even atmospheric corrections (temp, elevation/BP, humidity, etc) still leaves track condition as a mighty big variance.

This is all part of why I have not bothered to dyno'd yet...
I know my A/F and tune are perfect & I know my car is quick and fast. That elminates the need to have a dyno for tuning right there! It's hard to make the time so I can spend $60 just to have some numbers to flaunt.
I know they are good just by the car's feel and it's performance to date. (i.e. faster & quicker then any posted NA 2.5L or 3L or any S/C Duratec to date and on 2 year old street tires and setup for autocrossing! )

I think I'll just stick with the 159 hp # I pulled back at SZ02', it was alot easier fielding questions about "why did your car dyno so low?" or "Man, whats wrong with your car". I guess the dragstrip is the best way to go, but whats this about above and below sealevel stuff when it pertains to your times/mph , it seems to vary from place to place and they too give the "corrected to sealevel" times/mph.

I know the above question, its just that your damned if you do and damned if you don't around here Either your getting ripped on for pulling 159 hp or your getting ripped for a 171 hp on the lower hp rated Mustang Dyno, no wonder enthusiasm is down around here

I've got an idea. We can have a dyno-track day. We'll go to VT in the morning(Most E. great lakes dyno days held here) then head up to stanton late after noon for a track day. I don't know how this will solve anything or if this really has anything to do with the subject, but hey i'd be fun, and we would be able to see how those HP to driver ability to track condition ratios look like. It would be a fun small weekend thing to do for the local guys.

I do not doubt you would pull 180's on a Dynojet. 171 on a Mustang is really high from what I have seen over the years.

All I stated was adding XX% to your recent dyno numbers might give a general guesstimate of what you would have pulled on a dynojet but is not the same thing nor "exact"
