I agree that is a good, direct indication of how the car & driver perform together as a total package verses a static engine number generated by a dyno.
However again you can only compare it against other cars at the track the same night as you.
Even atmospheric corrections (temp, elevation/BP, humidity, etc) still leaves track condition as a mighty big variance.
This is all part of why I have not bothered to dyno'd yet... I know my A/F and tune are perfect & I know my car is quick and fast. That elminates the need to have a dyno for tuning right there! It's hard to make the time so I can spend $60 just to have some numbers to flaunt. I know they are good just by the car's feel and it's performance to date. (i.e. faster & quicker then any posted NA 2.5L or 3L or any S/C Duratec to date and on 2 year old street tires and setup for autocrossing! )
