No worries on how far you have to travel. We've got cars driving from near the Mexico border and from as far north as Magic Mtn (I think).
If you're looking to caravan, then I recommend joining ProbeTalk.com and hooking up with some people who are attending. We're usually pretty good at getting a caravan together.
