...Damn all my friends are geting newer cars. Another buddy just go a 99 type R. Nice ride. How would this one turn out, I know htey are about matched in hp, and I would assume that the type R has a weight advantage. stock vs stock, I am nervous cause "If it aint a Type R, than it aint a tight car" lol

Unless you nail the launch it will be a very slow game of catch up that you won't make up in the 1/4 mile.
They have a hair less HP but it's very peaky.
They have less TQ and again peaky.
However they are a lot lighter!
Well spaced gearing too just like our car.
This was always the one on one comparison that Honduh Ricers loved to throw at us.
However I just shut them up by thanking them for the compliment. Telling them it was almost an honor to be directly compared to Honda's 2 door all out stripped race car when we drive a mildly hopped up 4-door family car.
Pissed them off every time because the numbers were that close.

Except this is not my thread.
I have beaten ITR's before with my 2.5L in different stages of modification. Both legally and not.
My first race against one was the "illegal" kind starting at about 60mph. Walked him and did a nice little wave as he feverently swore up and down wondering WTF this family car was beating him for.
Enough about that anyway. (don't flip out mods)

Stock for stock might be a driver's race somewhere in the range, but the type r would walk due to the peakiness of Honda engines as Demon says. My friend actually had one for a while before he got an S2000, the best he ran was a...14.3-14.4 IIRC. He had it stripped, header, catback, and I think an intake. Not much, but enough for a fun car. My other friend has a 6th gen hatch with the type r motor running 14.5ish. In fact, there was actually a magazine that pitted the SVT against the ITR, but I don't remember which one it was and never saw the article.

No its not, not even close.
The ITR will walk all over a stock SVT. Those things are mid 14's stock and will nail low 14's with work.
Unless your SVT is really worked, the ITR isn't in your class, you should be going after prelude's, tsx's, and the like.

Actually if you're bench racing the two remember the all white Type R was tested in the 15.3 range....
Also, I've seen several people at the track running mid to high 15's in them(newer ones...yellow/black). They seem to have the same problem we do..lack of torque, and unless you nail a launch(I know they have an LSD stock) you're not going to make a record breaking run.
I have seen lightly modded/gutted going mid 14's while I was going 14.7-14.8.
Still cool little cars and good for autox.
Remember that a great car with a lousy driver will more than likely lose to that of a decent car with a great driver...IMO
