The Cougar people around here are cool. We've had several 15+ car Cougar/Contour/Ford meets in the past. But just from cruising around NECO from time to time, seems like everywhere else they're a bunch of dicks.

We tried, but the cougar guys ade it pretty clear we weren't welcome as participants at Cougarfest and when we did invite them to SZ in the past, there wasn't any intrest from them... nor the Focus owners either.

Well, I'm a Cougar guy, and I brought it up. =) I made it out to SZ for a few minutes to talk with Rick and wander around, but since I didn't know anyone before I set foot in the parking lot, I felt a bit out of place myself.

Now, most people cannot make it to multiple meets, which is the reason we combined Cougarfest and HCKC into one large show this year. You might also notice that more and more Contour users are posting on TN and FC lately, and I believe that TN has a specific Contour section. My feelings about this are, we're all using the same parts performance-wise, and working together on group buys, etc. Why not go that one extra step? I've talked to at least 20 of the most active Cougar people, and everyone welcomes ya'll.

I know this year is most likely too late, since we've already got the hotel booked, and rooms are filling up, registrations are paid for, etc. But if we start planning now, next year we could combine into one helluva meet.

From the reactions here, it seems that if people don't run up to you and start talking you feel not welcomed, but its the same reception I received at SZ, except from a select few who were haning around Rick's car as we were chatting about the split headers. =) (Hell, I don't even know anyones names that I was talking to, besides Rick...)

We're putting up real-time photo updates on the web during CF this year, so maybe ya'll can check 'em out, and see what we're up to, and realize this is not just a Cougar-show, but its more of a friendly get-together. We'll be partying, modding, racing, and cruising all weekend long, and some of us are headed to Cedar Point the Monday afterwards to relax a bit more.

Looking at our British counterparts, rarely do they have meets strictly Mondeos or Cougs, usually they mix them and other Fords, any Fords. The more the merrier, and when the majority of the 'other' Fords realize this, nothing will change and our and their meets will be smaller and less and less supported with big crowds/enthusiasts. Man, it's not like a Corvette or Mustang-only convention, THOSE are cool, but our cars don't survive like that!

Well heck, they welcomed me (for the most part), and I don't even have a Contour anymore. Not even a Ford.

I can't see why Cougars wouldn't be welcome. After all, the point of Spring Zing all along â?? from the olden days, at least â?? was to be a com one, come all car meet. Just a bunch of car guys talking cars, driving cars, and generally just hanging out.

maybe our new national meet could be a combined ordeal? could turn into a mess if not properly run, however.
