Ok..I have dyno and drag experience that I wanted to talk about.
I live down here in San Antonio and I have a friend who owns a focus (2.3L Duratec). He thinks its really fast(I didn't feel like looking up the specs so I didn't care) So a few days ago we go to get it Dyno tuned with only a Short Ram Intake...Results

131.9 Max HP and 139.6 Max Torque
120.0 Max HP and 137.3 Max Torque
131.8 Max HP and 139.9 Max Torque

He has the sheet...and didn't want me to put it up but those were the numbers he dyno'd So I'm like WTF...weak

We go to the track and he ran a Mid 15's all freaking day...he ran 15.5, 15.3, and 15.5.(He has the sheets so I can't post them)

So I'm wondering how is that possible? My car has more horsepower and Torque STOCK...and it won't pull mid 15's.(Of course I have the 3L now ) Can any of you genius CEG members break that down for me?????

WEIGHT and is your car a svt? If not a svt, the dyno numbers would actually be real close,, but again the focus weighs a lot less.

MMMM, Duratec Focus'. =) Yes, mine beats my SVT. One reason is the fact that they don't have to shift 4th in the 1/4. I have an intake, exhaust, and cam adjustment and I'm probably making 145+whp and 150wtq or so. Welcome to what that can do in a 2500lb car.

Umm...not I'm pretty sure he can't beat me even If I don't have an SVT...I have a 3L swap so..I'm pretty sure he's no where near where I am ...plus he just learned to drive and this is the car that his parents bought him. No doubt he's a good driver but that really doesn't matter.

I wasn't really trying to compare his car to mine..I was comparing the Focus to the Contour.

EDIT: I just noticed the post above mine...Your Focus beats your SVT???? wow. Thats a crucial 500LB's huh. Maybe I misunderstood the importance of weight in racing...

They weigh between 2500 and 2700lbs. Most contours weigh over 3100lbs.

His focus is modified and like he said doesn't have to shift outta third in the 1/4 mile.

Sorry for editing my post Kermit..it makes yours seem a bit off. But yeah, I duuno it just seems far fetched that a far far less power and almost 500lbs less would beat our car.

It is probably only a 20hp difference, and the focus likely has more torque. Combined with less weight and not having to shift into fourth (and probably better traction off the line as well), it makes the focus quicker in the 1/4 mile. I'm sure the focus isn't killing the svt, but just beating it a little.
