I've gotten my Aviator VERY dirty before. I was grinning the whole time flying through a muddy dirt road while it was pouring rain. Mud was blasting up onto the windshield. I think there might be some nice red dirt still on her somewhere from that night. AWD V8 is so sweet. I wish I had pics of that, but I'm sure I'll get into that situation again.
If you don't tow or go mudding once in a while, you might as well get a mini-van and go home.

what i dont get is how people say they feel more safe in a suv. most suv accidents ive seen were roll overs. after driving a explorer from tampa to orlando i wouldnt want a suv at all. i feel safe in something lower to the ground better manueverability and can stop with ease. i had a mr2 for a few years and it was pretty safe to me. the suv craze got worse once the adjustable pedals came out. this short lady down the street had a new expedition wrecked it than her husband baught her a new excursion. she must be like 5 foot 2 inches i think.

While you feel safer being low to the ground in a good handling vehicle, others feel safer with a better of view of the road and more time to react in some cases. What is hard to understand about that?

Nice pics and nice Jeep. I haven't had the chance to drive one, but my brothers have a couple of CJ5s that I have played around in. I'll have to get some pics of my Ranger and the Jeeps the next time we head up north.
To the SUV bashers: Someone mentioned to use them for what they were designed for. In my experience, almost every SUV on the road is used for what it's designed for. Good on-road performance. Does anyone honestly believe that the Explorer, Durango, or Tahoe were designed to be off-road vehicles? Hardly. Joey, despite driving a Jeep, is probably in a small minority, and you can't bet that Chrysler knows that in the design process.

Really? Since I never took my SVTC autocrossing, I guess I should have just bought a GL with a zetec and automatic...Or better yet, a reliable Honda or Toyota.
I agree that mini-vans, in general, are MUCH more practical than SUVs. But I couldn't blame someone for wanting a car that has a little more aesthetic appeal than a Freestar.

I had a mini van. It could hold it's own in lite off roading.

nice! i had a grand cherokee limited 4x4 for a little over a year and took it off-roading a few times. here's a pic from after one trip (sorry - no pics in action, unfortunately!):   at some point, hopefully sooner rather than later, i'll have something to go play in the mud with again....i was always a bit nervous about doing anything too drastic w/ my jeep since it was, after all, also my daily driver....but i'm aiming to get either a 4wd truck or maybe an older XJ for trips through the mud, to home depot, or to carry my bikes around.
