Contrary to FRAM's oild filters, are their fuel filters any better? I plan on replacing mine in the near future and want to know what kind to get. Also, how do you relieve the fuel pressure (I know if my old Taurus there was a button in the trunk that did it, but I don't see anything like that in my CSVT)?

I don't do anything Fram. I just can't believe that they can seperate their junk oil filter tecnology from any other technology they might have.

I have gone with a motorcraft and the NAPA Gold. Both are quality pieces.

I removed the fuel cap...and disconnected the battery (to remove power to the fuel pump) then let sit overnight. No excess pressure when I did mine..but you'll always have a little spillage...

There has to be an easier way to relieve the pressure than let it sit over night...

I am thinking about just relieving the pressure by tripping the inertial switch then running the car until it stalls.

Also, does anyone see a reason not to use a NAPA fuel filter? Ford wants $17.99 for their filter and NAPA only wants $9.60.

Start your car and pull the underhood fuse for the fuel pump. Let the car run until it stalls. Voila, no more fuel pressure.

^^^ That's exactly what I did, didn't have any pressure, just a bit of residual fuel in the lines and old filter, but with a towel underneath it, it caught all of it, put the new one in and wabam! I believe I just used a Fram filter, since I was in a hurry to replace it, but I haven't had any problems.

Pulling the fuse would accomplish the same thing as tripping the inertial switch, but just so I know......what fuse is for the fuel pump?

Wow all I do is release the gas cap and push in the nipple in on the schrader valve until the air is out.
1 minute tops!
Why run and starve your fuel pump!
Sounds like there's gonna be a few early deaths of fuel pumps.

Oh and I use FRAM! Never had any problems and my mechanics have been working on cars for 30 years (they also build race cars) and they see no problems with FRAM!
