In June 1992, I drove from Danville, VA to Lakeland, FL(720 miles) in a 1968 Mustang. I only stopped for gas(which was often, given it had a 15 gallon fuel tank and a thirsty 390 4-barrel)and food(get it in the drive-thru and go). The car was loud and hot (remember, it was June and it had no A/C)and I felt literally beat after the 12 hours or so it took to get there.
I drove the same car to Clarksville, TN straight(about 500 or so miles) in 1991. Only problem I encountered with this car was a seized-up power steering pump coming back from Clarksville. It burned up the belt(thank goodness it ran a belt separately from the water pump), but I just kept going.
