Just finished a 12 hour drive tonight, from Kansas back home. Not that bad, I had plenty of good cds to keep me awake. Got 37 MPG too

I did 8 hours in Sal's SVT, from Richmond VA (i think) to Pottsville PA: except gas. All i really remember is that mile long tunnell at the bottom part of Maryland...funfun!

I go to my aunts beach house quite often in OC Maryland, 'bout 3 1/2 hours from Reading PA. But thats a breeze.

I find freinds and family to stay with when I drive long ways. I like doing 5-8 hours then a break, another 4 hours, then sleep, and so on. The drive up to Detroit from Chicago was easy. I drove to about the middle of Ohio to get my car and drove it right back, 14 hours of driving with a break in the middle to buy the car. Having a new car helped a lot.

La Crosse, Wisconsin at my girlfriend's house, to Chicago, IL to drop stuff off at my dorm, and then to Western North Carolina to go home. 15 1/2 hours, with 3 gas stops, 1 rest area stop, and 1 restaurant stop. I slept for 12 hours before I left and made the drive straight. Then I slept for like a day and a half. lol The last few hours were dangerous and I was stupid to have kept going.

Actually, I got that mileage going to Kansas, not coming, my bad

Followed my family to Kansas, they drive VERY careful. 65-70 the whole way there. Only had to fill up once on the way, it made my day! Got 37.2 MPG

Came back alone, drove about 75-80 back, had to fill up TWICE big difference, dont even want to know what the mileage was. I figure about 10-12 MPG less. I had no idea how good the 'tour was on gas if I kept my foot out of it.

Also remember that mapquest time frame is a little off due to speed limit changes. Check the milage and divide that by how fast you will drive. That should give you a better guess at the time it will take.

San Diego where I live to New York City to visit my gf at the time. Even worse, came straight back a few days later. Around 2 days each way IIRC.

I've had to drive from Ft. Bragg, NC to San Antonio, TX 3 times (including the return trips). I did it in about 21 hours straight. The trip wasn't too bad except for the end between Houston and San Antonio - there's nothing there but dull ass road to keep your mind sharp. Lots of dip and Mountain Dew for that trip!
