Question on 4Cyl 99 LX motor
We just picked up another tour,I was wondering, does anyone know if it has a rev limiter stock on it, we reved the motor, and it went vroom nice and smooth but then started to go vroom vroom vroom really fast, at the higher RPM, I had a friends new Prelude that did the same thing, and we changed his wires and plugs, it never did it again, then we just went to change the new tours plugs, but it is still doing it, process of elimination, Rev limiter?? Its no big deal we are doing a 3L instal in the next few months, but its a wuestion I would like to know the answer too. Thanks for any advice.

6700-6750rpm is the stock rev limiter.

Converting from a 4 to a 6???

I hope you have an entire donor car.

Yes it has a rev limiter. About 4200 IIRC in park/neutral, though one time my rev limiter disappeared while I was in neutral. The rev limiter is around 6k rpm on a non-chipped atx zetec when in drive,, which I bounced off tonite for a little bit having some parking lot fun. Good luck on the 3L install into a contour that originally had a zetec.

To add since I did not see a tranny listed.

The MTX has no "lower rpm" neutral rev limiter.

Also the ATX has the same rev limiter as MTX it's just the shift points are set much lower then the limiter is.

Oo and let me correct myself, the rev limiter in drive really isn't ~6k, it's 6750 on 96+ zetecs though it shifts at ~6k w/o a chip, so......

Actually, because of gas prices, I don't have the chip in right now.
