There are countries in this world that require young men to serve in the armed forces. There is no choice in the matter.
No red-blooded American (born or immigrated) should be afraid to defend their country. Hell, there were Japanese that wanted to fight for America during WW2.
Edit: Sham group or not this does bring up a good subject. Those that are probably going to attempt draft dodging if our beloved land ever needs them. At least they will go down in history as draft dodgers and be elected president someday.

to be honest, i would rather not be drafted. however, if i was, i too would not run. i would do what i needed to to the absolute max of my ability and would fight hard for the country that provides so much for me.

I have always had the desire to join the armed forces but cant bring myself to do it. I am not afraid to die but I am afraid to join cause if I regret it then I will only have myself to blame at least if I get drafted I could say that I didnt do it and I was forced to if I had to. I do however think that I would like it. I would def not run from it at all. If I knew I was gonna get drafted I would just run off and join the branch I want to join rather then have no choice at all.

It's equally patriotic to criticize unjust/indefensible wars. In this case, knowing what I know about the Iraq situation, I would probably dodge the draft. IMO it's worse for the country in the long run to allow leaders to get away with risking soldiers' lives unnecessarily.
OTOH, I wouldn't have a problem fighting a war I considered worthwhile.
