That's nothing: Carmax's website shows a BMW 323 5spd, 35K miles, $20K at the Hillside, IL store. Must resist urge... Barely rightside up on Contour, if that... Want to move to Vegas, downpayment will clean me out, must resist... BMW...

Point: You KNOW your car, and EXACTLY what's gone out, going out, new, replaced, etc..

Is there anything wrong with your current car?
Point: $2350 can go a LONG way to repair pretty much anything that "could" go wrong with your car...

Do you have a need to change cars, due to lifestyle, family, etc?
Point: The things a 4-door family hauler... uhm.... wait.. don't you already have one of those?

My call.. I wouldn't do it.. I would rest assured with the knowledge I have in mine, and drive it until the wheels fall off... Then, if/when that time comes, get a car that you can have a warranty, and a little piece of mind on...

Paraphrase: Why trade in a used, high-mileage car for a used high-mileage car, when you gain nothing but "model year numbers".. which mean nothing, if your current car runs strong..

well, the mystique is junk. it cant be driven on the road due to it having salvage title. i dont think its ever going to see the road again. its just not worth it to fix it.

as for my camry. it needs a new rear main seal. its going to cost an arm and leg to get it fixed. most of the cost is going to be in labor. it also needs new tires, door handles, and a timing belt.

i just want something that looks good and gets better gas mileage than my bronco.

i plan on buying a new car next year sometime (probably another toyota ). this is just something to get me around until then. something a little speedier than the camry and less of gas hog than my bronco.

i would have the grand prix checked out by a mechanic no doubt.

heres how i see it. if the car doesnt need much, and runs good, i'll get it.

You have four car now that that need work or aren't road worthy or have poor gas milage and you want to add a fifth? What are you doing...starting your own bone yard?
Take the $2350 and use it as a down payment. It's not going to get that good a gas milage and you could end up with a money pit even if a tech looks at it.
As stated earlier buy yourself some peace of mind get the new car and pass on this. It's not a good car if a stealership only wants $2350 for it.

My friend from work had that same car, same year, same color, same situation, bought it for cheap, had some minor problems (leaks and all), but he ended up paying for it, now it is broken down and has been for quite some time now

The peeps at carsurvey.org didnt give the 97 GT a good review either, well, most of them gave it a bad review...

Pontiacs, im not big on... I drove 3 Pontiacs (all 3 Bonnevilles, but different types) They do have responsive power steering, but so does the contour, When you drive a GM, these lights will try to get to know you: Service Engine Soon, Service Anti-Lock, and maybe another light, that is if it has ABS... most GM's ive seen like them lights on

Uhh, hello... McFly. You are going to purchase another POS Pontiac with 136k??? Take all your other cars and trade them in on something newer from a reputable dealer like Carmax.

why do i need to start a junk yard when the only car that i have that isnt worth a damn is the mystique? the cavalier is my girlfriends, but her father has had it for the past year. theres nothing wrong with the bronco other than the fact that it drinks to much gas. the camry is just getting old. the pontiac has 70k less miles and is in a little bit better shape body wise. i want something that will at least last for a year or two. i plan on buying a new car, but not now. i want something i can pay cash for as my cash flow isnt as stable as i would like it right now. also i would try to trade the camry to. again like i said, i would have a mechanic look at whatever i buy. meh
