Hey a friend of mine makes crash cages that work better than frame sliders...lemme find his site. At minimum get some frame and swingarm sliders (the swingarm sliders bolt where you put spools on your swingarm, they pull double duty). Make sure your gear is top shelf stuff....you don't want to experience road rash at any speed....

If the clipons are too much look up heli-bars they make adjustable clipons that are fairly inexpensive and will get you more comfortable, but the majority of it is just getting used to being in that position and that comes with time.
