i have a 2000 contour SE and its got stock rims on it, and i sorta like them, and dont wanna go too overboard, can i just paint them? i was thinking of getting some black paint or maybe a diff color, and painting them, but my Q is, should i clearcoat them? and what about the silver fleck paint thats already on them? just curious if anyone has ever done this PS, pic of the rims i have now (not my car just a google image search) http://www.autosalvagerecyclers.com/newarrpic/new%20arrivals%20013.jpg

sand the wheels to get off the silver and make them smooth

clearcoat? I'm sure it wouldn't hurt

can i paint my steelies? i would liek to go back to black instead of rusty grey...

is that it? should i use one of those car paint spray cans from a auto store? and what color do you think would go good with my t-red car? and is it cool if i just mask off my whole tire instead of taking the tire off the rim?

I masked my tires and it worked fine. I used wheel paint I found at Pep Boys, worked pretty good. Make sure you use a clear coat, it will make the paint last a lot longer, and dont ever use any kind of wheel cleaner, just soap and water.
